Melanie Ammann

Melanie Ammann began her dance career at the Cantonal Conservatory of Music and Dance in Martigny, and later at the University of the Arts in Cologne, where she trained in ballet, contemporary dance, improvisation, and composition. She worked in Basel for ten years: as a dancer and choreographer, she created many full-length productions, and she taught dance at several dance schools and at Uni-Sport Basel.

To integrate dance with bodywork, she completed her training in Rolfing Structural Integration in 2019. Her goal is to help students understand that dance develops from within and is less about copying external forms. Her classes are grounded in solid bodywork and brim with a passion for dance in all its diverse facets. As the artistic director of the TanzGas company, she is a driving force behind promoting inclusion in dance.
